PE is considered as the most popular thermoplastic material of this modern era. It is produced from the polymerization of ethylene (or ethene) and monomer. The PE is light in weight and very durable material with a variable crystalline structure. It is the material of choice for most people all around the world. Packaging, automotive, and electrical industries utilize it the most. There are two consequential types of PE, that is LDPE and HDPE. Both have several applications and provide valuable benefits.
LDPE
- LDPE or Low-Density Polyethylene’s most popular application in plastic bags. Its other uses majorly include the manufacturing of containers, dispensing bottles, wash bottles, tubing, plastic bags for computer parts, and various prepared laboratory kits.
- LDPE is cost-effective and highly flexible, which allows it to use in the packaging industry for pharmaceutical and squeeze bottles, caps, and closures, tamper-evident, liners, trash bags, films for food packaging (frozen, dry goods, etc.), laminations, etc.
- LDPE is also used in the production of water pipes and hoses for the pipes and fittings industry due to Its elasticity and low water absorption.

- High-Density Polyethylene has several packaging applications, including crates, trays, bottles for milk and fruit juices, caps for food packaging, jerry cans, drums, industrial bulk containers, etc. In such items, HDPE offers the end product a practical impact strength.
- Because of its high tensile strength, it has versatile applications of fibers and textiles. HDPE is widely used to make ropes, fishing and sports nets, nets for agricultural use, industrial and decorative fabrics, etc. The PE fishing net has an excellent knot strength, breaking strength, and outstanding wear resistance.
